Caverne Dufour ("Dufour Cave")
Caverne Dufour is a mountain hut for hikers who head for the summit of Piton des Neiges, because it is located halfway from the centre of Cilaos city, in the natural amphitheatre of the same name. The altitude is about 1 000 m from the bottom of it to the foot, then 600 m from the refuge in the upper part.
Piton des Neiges ("The Snow Peak")
The highest peak of the island of Réunion is Piton des Neiges. It is located in the north central region of the island and soars to 3,070 m. Being the most dominant geological feature, Piton des Neiges could be an old, eroded volcano but it is hikers‘ favourite destination these days.
