Riviere des Galets

Cirque de Mafate

Located in the northwest part of the Reunion Island, the beautiful Cirque de Mafate is surrounded by mountains all around. This rugged and wild caldera is the only one of the island’s three natural amphitheatres that’s accessible only on foot or by helicopter.

Les Trois Roches ("Three Rocks")

The Trois Roches is a natural sight on the island of Réunion. It is located in the heart of Mafate natural cirque, midway between Roche Plate and Marla, along the great hiking route GR R2. It has the shape of a piece of a nearly flat rock turning suddenly into an abyss, where the river Galets creates a cascade. The river indicates the communal border between La Possession and Saint Paul dans les Hauts (in the Highest), which is an uninhabited place existing just for itself and connecting the two municipalities into an area that is also included in the Reunion National Park.
